Inception42 launches Alpha AI tool for institutional investors

Inception42, the agentic AI company within Abu Dhabi-based G42, has launched Alpha, an AI-native investment decision intelligence tool for private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds and institutional allocators. The company introduced the software-as-a-service product at SuperReturn Middle East on 13 October.

"Every investment committee wants the same thing: the full picture of a deal and the confidence to act on it," said Ashish Koshy, CEO of Inception42. "Alpha gives deal teams and committee members that picture, with every insight traceable to its source."

Alpha takes in Confidential Information Memoranda (CIMs), diligence packs and portfolio data, and turns them into insights grounded in the source material. It checks how complete the diligence is, flags gaps before they become late-stage surprises, scores each deal against criteria set by the institution and drafts an investment memo in which every claim points back to where it came from.

Institutional investors are underwriting larger and more complex positions under tighter timelines, according to Inception42. The company said most AI tools on the market speed up isolated tasks, such as drafting a memo, building a comparables table or summarising a data room, while the investment strategy behind those tasks stays scattered across files, inboxes and committee decks.

As a deal moves from diligence to Investment Committee (IC) to ownership, its context is rebuilt from scratch each time, the company said, leaving committees little time to challenge the evidence in front of them. Alpha is built to follow a deal through each of those stages. It draws on the institution's accumulated memory, analyses structured and unstructured data together and keeps an audit trail intended to give deal teams and committees more certainty.

Inception42 said the platform is already in use at some of the region's most significant financial institutions, including in high-risk areas. It did not name any clients.

Just under one in four general partners said AI was somewhat or fully integrated into their due diligence processes, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence's 2026 private equity outlook, published in April. Diligence was also where AI scored best for value creation, with 27% of GPs rating it effective there. Majorities reported little or no integration in valuations and modelling, portfolio monitoring and investor reporting, and ineffective ratings reached 75% for portfolio monitoring.

A separate L.E.K. Consulting survey of 100 US buyout professionals, published in July, found respondents reporting an average 28% productivity improvement from AI, with investment teams using it mainly for research and diligence synthesis. Only 21% rated their own AI expertise as advanced or leading edge. Together, the findings suggest the next contest in private markets software will be over the decision itself, and the post-deal oversight where adoption has so far been thinnest. Alpha is aimed at that gap.

"Speed and rigour finally pull in the same direction," Koshy said. "We are putting that capability in the hands of the region's investors."

Inception42 plans to add Alpha Skills, a set of reusable workflows designed by practitioners for tasks including comparables analysis, credit assessment and IC memo drafting. Custom skills will let firms encode their own methodology, templates and house style, so that every deal is underwritten their way on live data. The company did not give a release timeline for the feature.

Inception42 said investment data stays under the institution's control at every step. As a SaaS product, Alpha is designed to move from a first deal team to firm-wide use, and institutions can build custom agents around the expertise of their in-house specialists and their own templates. The pricing was not disclosed.
